"An Uptown Story" is a project where we plan to photograph and record the history of Harlem's essence from the long time residents who make Harlem what it is, while keeping it’s legacy alive.

This concept is deeply rooted in my own life in this community, a love letter to the people and places that have shaped me. I moved into my father’s apartment 20 years ago, and my days on this block, surrounded by familiar faces, have been the wellspring of this vision. My father was the first person I told and photographed for the project. This work is my way of honoring the legacy of Harlem in the way I know best, through my craft.
